Geneva, February 2007

Geneva has always nice scenery to offer, especially in winter time when the mountains are covered in snow. There are always a lot of winter charters around, especially from the UK and Scandinavia.

Former VH-CZL with Ansett Australia, G-CELB, a Boeing 737-377 build in 1987, operating a charter flights for Jet 2 based in Leeds. This aircraft is promoting Yorkshire county with this colorful livery, which sticks out well in the snowy scenery.

EL AL is sometimes using heavy equipment on the Geneva flights. In this case Boeing 777-258 (ER) 4X-ECA is operating a flight to Tel Aviv for Arkia, EL AL's the charter subsidiary.

A former Emirates aircraft, Airbus A300-B4-605R TS-IPC of Tunis Air is rotating early for a flight to Tunis.
The Northafrican Carrier is operating 3 examples of the big bus.

First Learjet in the Bulgarian register, LZ-BVV, a Learjet 60, belongs to AVB-2004 Ltd., a Bulgarian taxi company based at Sofia.

One of 12 Airbus A330-200s of Abu Dhabi carrier Ethihad Airways is taking off as flight EY 053, one of the carriers 3 scheduled weekly flights to the Gulf.

Tenerife Sur, April 2007

Contrary to Los Rodeos in the north Tenerife Sur is mainly catering to charter traffic. Weather is generally better in the south as the wind usually blows away the clouds. Former Britannia Airways Boeing 737-804 is now operating as SE-DZK for TuiFly Nordic. On one side it wears StarTour- and on this side Fritidsresor-titles, both Swedish travel services connected to TUI.

EC-IVR is one out of a fleet of 10 B737-800 operating for Futura International. This aircraft has been operating for Icelandair, Brussels International and Sobelair before it ended up with the Spanish carrier.

Serair Transworld Press operates with a fleet of 4 Beech 1900C, EC-GZG build in 1991 one of them. Serair is specialising in transporting merchandise inbetween the Canary islands and nearby Africa.

Boeing 737-33A OY-JTA started her life with America West Airlines, saw service with Falcon Express and in Honduras before beginning her carreer with newcomer JetTime. The airline came into life in October 2006 and homebase is Copenhagen.

Lowcost daughter of SAS, Snowflake operates with only this B737-883 LN-RPN leased from the mother company.

Monarch was founded in 1967 and started services with Bristol Britannia aircraft. G-OJEG is one of 10 Airbus A321 operated by the Luton based carrier.

Tenerife Norte, April 2007

Tenerife Norte is one of two airports on the island of Tenerife. Flag carrier Iberia operates usually 2 flights a day with an A340-300. EC-IIH, "Maria Barbara de Braganza", settles gracefully back to the ground again.

EC-IKQ is one of 3 ATR-72s operated by Islas Airways. Los Rodeos is Islas' homebase, flights connecting, as the name suggests, the Canary Islands.

LTU is one of the few non-spanish carriers operating to Los Rodeos. Flight time to Düsseldorf will be a bit more than 4 hours.

In competition to Iberia, Air Europa also operates heavy equipment into TFN. Operating a flight from Madrid, Airbus A330-202 EC-JQG, delivered last year, is only seconds from touchdown.

Formed by Iberia in 1988, Binter is another Inter-island operator. A fleet of 13 ATR-72s are cruising around the islands and one Boeing 737-400 (see below) is used for mainland destinations. EC-JBI, a colorful ATR-72-212A, is lining up runway 30.

Amsterdam, May 2007

An absolute highlight for me, as I have been "hunting" this airplane for years. Finally I was able to take some decent pictures of this beast. Only one civilian example left flying - and who knows for how long - the Antonov 22 UR-09307 is operating for Antonov Design Bureau.

Another one I was keen to get. Surinam Airways only flies between Paramaribo and Amsterdam. Build in 1986 for KLM, she was transfered to Surinam Airways in 2004.

PR-LGD is one of two MD-11s Varig Log operates for longhaul services. Korean Air used this MD-11 as HL7372, converted her for freighter use till sold to Pegasus Aviation in 2005. In May 2005 she came into the fleet of VeLog.

Build for Japan Air Lines in 1971 (!) this Kalitta Air Boeing 747-146F glides towards runway 06 on a flight from Bahrain.

Japan Air Lines introduced the first airplane wearing billboard OneWorld colors. This Boeing 777-246ER is leaving the Polderbaan heading for Tokyo-Narita.

Another cargo 747 - this time in form of rather new Boeing 747-412F, B-2429, of Great Wall Airlines. Both freighters used are former Singapore Airlines examples operating out of Shanghai-Pudong.
